As of last night at around 1:30 AM, PR1.2 official began trickling out to users in the UK region. Although it hasn’t been long since the leaked release, there has been much anticipation and will be a lot of happy users. Many of you have installed customized tweaks, upgraded kernels and perhaps, the early RC of PR1.2 – and we’re happy to say that you too can have official PR1.2. If you can’t wait for it to hit your area (global is tomorrow, May 26th) there are a few ways you can glean it onto your device.
Firstly, head over to Nokia Tablet Dev and grab the PR1.2 USA or GLOBAL images (RX-51_2009SE_10.2010.19-1.002_PR_COMBINED_002_ARM.bin and RX-51_2009SE_10.2010.19-1_PR_COMBINED_MR0_ARM.bin, respectively). Now you can simply follow the flashing guide to get PR1.2 onto your device one day early.
For those of you who prefer to keep your all your personal changes intact, there’s a way to OTA the packages and install. It consists of changing your SSU (Seamless Software Update) repositories to point to UK locations. Do to this, simply open up /etc/apt/sources.list.d/hildon-application-manager.list and change “mr0” to “203” in the second line and refresh your catalogs. If you don’t see an update icon, you CAN apt-get dist-upgrade to grab all the new packages. This will ignore the metapackage, and you’ll have to do this come the next release. This is for power users only.
Many of the changes between 1.1.1 and 1.2 are quickly apparent. An updated browser engine, new widgets and much much more.
